Modern Dance
The foundations of today's modern dance were laid by the schools of the American choreographer Martha Graham and the choreographer José Limon. Modern dance is characterized by the use of gravity, balance and swing in dance. It is based on various principles, such as inhalation and exhalation (contraction/release), the use of gravity (fall/recover) and balance (balance/off-balance). "Impulse" and "leadership" are other important terms.
As in modern dance the dynamics and flow of any music - from classical to pop to pure onomatopoeia (or even silence!) - can be implemented with the body, there are no limits to the possibilities for expression. The center of the body is stabilized so that the spine and limbs can move more freely in space. By using body weight and gravity, a relaxed game of swinging, balance, tension and relaxation begins, resulting in turns, jumps and flowing sequences of movements. Using the flow of energy, the dance combines strength and lightness, presence and spatial awareness.
Modern dance is wellness for body, mind and soul.
